Finnish set to invade Berlin

Look out Berlin, the Finnish are coming - a record amount of Finnish artists will perform in Berlin this week for a citywide festival called Helsinki in Berlin.

For 10 days all manner of Finnish musicians will showcase their craft.

“This is the most extensive showcase for Finnish music at an international event ever,” said Ville Kilpeläinen, acting director of Music Export Finland.

“The artists cover genres from dubstep to punk and on to tango, so the Finnish music is really well represented.”

Berlin has long been a home for Finnish artists such as Kiki from Bpitch Control, Sasse from Moodmusic and Luomo (Huume Records), and Germany is Finland’s most important music export market with 21% of export revenue coming from German-speaking European countries.
