Over the passed weeks we have learned a lot about Nic Fanciulli.

A celebrated Dj and producer, he has had numerous releases under is belt including the latest Global Underground compilation ‘DJ 001’.  He also taught us a few ticks he’s picked up using Traktor and shared his gained insights about running a modern record label.

We caught up with Nic outside of a warehouse following his gig and thought it would be the perfect time to him some of our weirder questions.
Here are some things you didn’t know about Nic Fanciuli

What is your favorite word?

What’s my favorite word? [Pause] I didn’t think I’ve got a favorite word, but I’d have to say Afterparty. As soon as someone says Afterparty my ears pick up, so, Afterparty.
What’s your leas favorite word?
Moodiness. Its just because its such a negative word and I’m not a big fan of it.

What turns you on creatively or emotionally?
I think what turn me on creatively is playing in small venues and seeing people enjoying themselves. When you play a record that you have just made and the people are there just getting of to it and enjoying themselves, you get the satisfaction and the reward of what your doing.

What turns you off?
What does turn me off is when people don’t have patience with dance music. It’s when they sometimes come in and expect you to just come on and start banging the music out straight away.  Sometimes you just need to be a little more patient and sort of enjoy the evening and not expect it all to happen at once, it will happen throughout the whole evening.
What’s your favorite sound?

Anything with a funk really.  Anything that’s got that disco groove that I used to listen to as a kid, it could be a techno record but as long as it’s got that groove and some funk I enjoy it.

What’s your least favorite sound or noise?
Probably really badly produced electro records.
What’s your favorite curse?
I say fuck quit a lot.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Ah, a footballer; soccer player for you American’s. That was every young British kids dream, to be a soccer player.

Me:  What’s your favorite team?
I got two teams cause I’m half Italian and half British. My Italian team is Lazio and my English team is Chelsea. 

Me: So what do you do when they play each other?

I’ve actually seen them get together twice and I just kind of sit there and I don’t know what to do. Kind of hoping it’s a draw and getting drunk in the meantime.

Any job you wouldn’t attempt?
Scientist. I would be really bad at it.  Get all the sum’s wrong.

Well that should sum it up then.  I think I heard Afterparty somewhere.
