Festival Tips: Nic Fanciulli, Jerome Isma-Ae, Funkagenda, Simian Mobile Disco

The GlobalGathering festival lives up to its name, producing events in Ukraine, Poland, Turkey, Russia, Belarus, Australia, the United States, and the UK, where it was founded in 2001. Held in Stratford-upon-Avon, and winner of DJ Mag‘s Best UK Festival award for the past two years, the UK event entertains crowds of up to 80,000.

Nic Fanciulli [a], Jerome Isma-Ae [a], Funkagenda [a], and Simian Mobile Disco [a] give us a taste of what they have planned; check out their answers, plus artist charts and the 63-track ‘Global Gathering Festival Anthems’ compilation, after the jump.

Nic Fanciulli

Have you played GlobalGathering before?

Yeah, I’ve been doing Global for about five years now, for it’s one of the best UK festivals.

How long do you plan to spend there, and which other artists are you excited to see?

I normally spend a few hours there. Really looking forward to checking out the Cocoon arena where most of my friends will be spinning. Also Carl Cox’s tent is always a fun place to hang out.

What have you planned for your set?

With such a short set time at festivals, I try and make special edits of my records.

Jerome Isma-Ae

Have you played GlobalGathering before?

Yes, in Kiev, St.Petersburg, and Poznan.

How long do you plan to spend there, and which other artists are you excited to see?

Will try to spend as much time as possible at the event, and I’m looking forward to see all of the DJs playing there!

What have you planned for your set?

I have many new productions that I want to test there....

Funkagenda

Have you played GlobalGathering before?

Yes this will be my fourth year playing the UK festival, but I have already played three international Globals this month. They have all been superb but I don’t mind admitting it has been HECTIC!

How long do you plan to spend there, and which other artists are you excited to see?

I’m planning on spending all night at the festival if at all possible. Chew Lips are top of my list to see this year, as well as all the guys playing under the Toolroom banner. Generally I like to stumble around with no real agenda (excuse the pun) and see what I find act-wise. Some of the best nights I have ever had at festivals have been in arenas with NO idea who is playing!

What have you planned for your set?

I am looking forward to showcasing some of the new tracks on my new label Funk Farm, whose debut release ‘Astana’ hits Beatport on the 9th of August. As well as the output on my label I will be road-testing some of my new productions to see what needs tweaking.

Simian Mobile Disco

Have you played GlobalGathering before?

Yes, a couple of years ago now.

How long do you plan to spend there, and which other artists are you excited to see?

We’re not going to be there for very long this time—just going in and out as we have quite a hectic schedule in our studio at the moment. If we were staying, though, we’d want to check out Booka Shade’s live show.

What have you planned for your set?

It will be a fairly techno-heavy set—featuring tracks from our upcoming Delicacies releases.
