Continuing the recent trend of ‘80s pop stars turned sometime club DJs, New Order’s Peter Hook has submitted a Beatport top 10, in advance of his upcoming gig August 27 at Manchester’s Sankeys club.

The Hacienda August Bank Holiday Special pays tribute to the legendary Manchester club with sets from Hook and Todd Terry; learn more about the event (and the Hacienda) at fac51thehacienda.com, where you can also download DJ mixes from the likes of Todd Terry and Graeme Park.

Featuring tracks from Dennis Ferrer, Hyperdub’s Ill Blu, Simian Mobile Disco, Barbara Tucker, Ashley Beedle, and more, Hook’s top 10 is a mixture of old and new—sometimes in the same track, as evidenced by Riva Starr remixing Arthur Baker.

Speaking of the freestyle/hip-hop icon, Baker turns up again in a selection from Freebass’ ‘You Don’t Know This About Me - The Arthur Baker Remixes’. Just released on the Hacienda Records label, it features several Baker edits of the band Freebass, a bass-centric supergroup including Hook, the Smiths’ Andy Rourke, the Stone Roses/Primal Scream’s Gary Mounfield, and vocalist Gary Briggs.
