Gaiser [Minus]

For most people, running a label isn’t an exact science.

Artists appear then disappear year to year from the roster, the music jumps and weaves, peaks and troughs or stays static and over time, becomes stale.

Not so Minus.

Richie Hawtin runs his operation with all the craft and tact of a football club manager.

And like every good club, a crafty rotation scheme is the key to success.

Gaiser is one of the label’s newest signings and this month’s key player — releasing a six track EP (with a seventh digital only release) that plays like a blueprint for the label’s current sound.

The rest of the EP, ‘Eye Contact,’ “Wet Contents’ or ‘Out OF Sort’ are all solid club records.

But ‘Withdrawal’ is the pick of the bunch and one of this month’s biggest minimal releases currently haunting clubs with an eerie, melancholic hook that is shaping up to be one of the label’s best weapons in 2007.

Since blistering into contention with his remix of Troy Pierce’s ‘25 Bitches’, the release that properly put him on the techno map, Gaiser’s been fine tuning one of techno’s best live shows.

If you caught his main room set at Minus’ Cocoon party in Ibiza, or any one of the number of gigs he’s played around the world, you’ll be a fan of his heads down, deep and trippy attitude to techno.
