“Shine Your Light” is exclusivly promoing on BEATPORT, with early support from PAUL OAKENFOLD, DEEPSKY, TIGERHOOK CORP, DJ TARKAN, JELO & more
What a track, what a concept, backed up with three fine and diverse remixes, this work captures absolutely the globality of our current world. The message is all: ‘You gotta shine your light on everyone you meet’. In these stressed and suspicious times we must not forget that truth or we lock ourselves into a smaller and lesser life. ‘ You gotta wave your flag on every street you’re on’ - don’t be passed over and above all don’t be homogenised. We’ve still got our individuality and it must shine.
‘Shine Your Light’ is a composition created using personnel from the desert sands of Jordan, the sunshine and style of Italy and the gritty hippness of Britain. It is a big room track. Slick beats, fantastic and vast textures, strong hooks on the chorus and that message - how true it is. The track will have broad cross appeal and could easily be used in a cinematic and televisual context as well as rocking the floors of the world clubscene.
The three commissioned re-mixes touch different market areas:
The first by West London Deep, a respected deep house outfit championed by Dave Hedger (Innersphere and remix credits including Moby) and co written by Colin Pilkington is smart and sassy. Additional production and keyboards by Gary Burns (David Holmes/Andrew Weatherall/Sabres of Paradise). The second by Parallel Sound (Hope/Whoop!/Bedrock) is already tearing up the dance floors. Accessible, fun, big and vibrant, a great stomper, a tour de force of dancehall fever. The third by higly credited Turkish producer based in London, Necmi Cavli (aka Oojami), is an expansive and moody work played around 90 bpm with a moody ‘Massive Attack’ feel. It captures that world of heat, palms and Beduoin yet fused with London multicultural cool. A class effort.
Written by Colin Pilkington, Oliver Hammett and Dave Hedger.
Further mixing by Adam Wren (LEFTFIELD).
Mastered by Mark Saunders @ REEQ NYC (www.reeq.mu)
