Esperanza: Sirena feat. Banjo or Freakout
Esperanza: Sirena feat. Banjo or Freakout
15 July, 2011 | 2.57AMGomma takes a break from funkin’ it up with new signing Esperanza, whom they describe as “3 guys playing piano, drums, guitars, flutes, a lot of weird Asian instruments and programming.”
Their lead single, “Sirena,” featuring Banjo or Freakout (Alessio Natalizia of Walls), is a dreamy comedown jam that reminds us a little bit of ‘80s paisley types The Church (or, hell, even Dream Academy) with a synthier touch—and it’s got a decidedly ‘80s-inspired video to match.
The two other original tracks on the EP slink into groovy Balearic house territory that ought to appeal to fans of Benoit & Sergio and Axel Boman—"Ink," in particular, is a stunning, hypnotic mood-piece of manipulated vocals and feathery guitars. Broke One‘s remix is pure deep-house bliss, while Border Community’s Luke Abbott works his characteristic magic on a more abstract reworking. Check out all five tracks here.
