Eric Prydz cancels Australian tour

Much to the chagrin of his fans down under, electro powerhouse Eric Prydz [a] cancelled his Australian tour yesterday due to his fear of flying.

Scheduled for seven dates in both Australia and New Zealand, the tour was to kick off in Sydney tonight on New Year’s Eve and wrap up in Auckland on 10th January 2009.

Click through for a full statement from his agency.

Says his management, Mainstage Artists:

“It is with great regret that we must announce that Eric Prydz has not travelled to Australia. It has been well documented that Eric has had a history of air travel issues and regrettably after having boarded his flight in London he had to leave the flight and was unable to re-board.

Another flight was then re-booked for the following day but again after boarding the flight, a panic attack ensued and he again had to leave the airplane, it was then decided to abort the tour. This is huge disappointment for all concerned, especially Eric and he sincerely apologises to all ticketholders of his scheduled events.

We can only apologise to Future Entertainment who have done everything in their power to make these shows possible and have been nothing less than professional throughout.”

Prydz’ NYE gig at Shore Thing added Boys Noize [a] to the roster, and now special guest Underworld will also play an extended set.

Eric Prydz cancelled tour dates:
December 31 - Shore Thing, Sydney
January 1- Field Day, Sydney
January 1- Summadayze, Melbourne
January 3 - Summafieldayze, Gold Coast
January 4 - Summadayze, Perth
January 9 - Brown Alley, Melbourne
January 10 - Summadayze, Auckland
