Electronic band Counter Intelligence to do film score
9 July, 2007 | 4.05AMCalifornian electronic music band Counter Intelligence have been asked to produce a film score for an indie movie director - Greg Bennett discovered the Temecula Valley group on Myspace.
“I was shocked; these guys sounded great,” Bennett told local rag The Valley News.
“I went through all the tracks on their Myspace page. It was really well produced. Most bands I come across on Myspace just remind me of why we need record labels.
“They’re under-produced, but [Counter Intelligence] sounded great.”
Counter Intelligence make powerful emotional breakbeat with a progressive edge, a sound which Bennett said was perfect to match the mood of his ‘Razor Tooth 2’ film, a sci-fi ‘creature feature’.
“The movie has a pretty sci-fi edge,” he said. “I wanted to do an electronic score, and [Counter Intelligence] was the first real gem I’ve found on MySpace. It has a high-tech feel to it.”
Filming begins in four weeks in Beijing, and this will be Counter Intelligence’s first film score.
CI Frontman Beau Jestice took the opportunity to big-up his favourite electronic producer BT.
“[BT is] a very universal artist,” Jestice said. “On ‘Monster,’ there’s no electronic music in it.
“On ‘The Fast and the Furious,’ there’s nothing but. Then you see ‘Stealth;’ it’s all orchestral, but then he throws his electronics in with it. It’s pretty amazing.”
So expect something a bit like BT
