Electro-duo Sonic Boyz release debut EP, Funbelievable
10 February, 2009 | 9.32AMCrown Digital recording artists Sonic Boyz released their debut EP on February 5th, with a party at New York City’s Suzy Wong’s. The duo, comprised of Mr. Ozwald and Bruno Beats, two guys known more for their hip hop production credits, spun records alongside DJ’s NYCE and LEXX, until the early morning.
Sonic Boyz represents a collaborative effort between two high profile hip hop producers. Credits include Kanye West, Destiny’s Child, Mary J Blige, Wyclef Jean, Cam’ron and a host of projects for ESPN, MTV and ABC.
Mr. Ozwald and Bruno Beats have stepped into the electro scene with a strong debut, featuring 5 solid tracks for the floor. The EP is heavily influenced by the duo’s love for artists including Daft Punk, Justice, MSTRKRFT, Chromeo and Busy P, as well as techno legends like Green Velvet and Richie Hawtin. The styles on the EP are diverse, ranging from funky disco to tech-house and even a bit of heavy metal.
