Edu Reyes on making his latest release

Edu Reyes gives us an insight of how his new release was produced and even more important which plugins and instruments he uses for his productions.
Together with my new release ‘Birthday’ (my managers birthday is coming up so I thought it would be nice) I decided to gather all the plugins and instruments I used for both cuts (Dreamers Spirit & Milady Experience) and post them on here.
Dreamers Spirit:
For the base I rarely use something else than the instrument Battery 3 by Native Instruments. It’s the ideal thin, you can do any kind of base with it and import samples, edit them within the instrument and on top of that you have unlimited libraries you can download directly from the makers website.
I think that Dreamers Spirit’s crucial part are the strings for which I used a piece of software called Atmosphere (made by Spectrasonics). Everything that comes out of their house has an incredible sound quality. You will find that you have thousands of possibilities by tuning the presets.
Which brings me to the next instrument, the synth, that follows the strings. I used Scorpion (by Synapse) for this one and the actual preset for this sound is called Analogue Magic. If you want the exact same sound you will have to tweak the cutoff a little. However presets are just as good as the personal touch you give each of the sounds yourself.
The hit hats are from a sample I had played and recorded from a real set of drums. It was a bit of work to import the sample into Logic Pro and make them fit into the project (the tempo needed some extra adjustments).
For the bass I actually used an instrument right from Logic Pro, it’s a synth called ES1 and has incredible sounds.
Milady Experience:
For this tune I pretty much handled the base the same way I did with Dreamers Spirit however in this track there are quite a few pads and strings. The pads all come from an instrument called Predator (by Rob Papen), the strings where made both with the before mentioned Atmosphere and the Predator.
The bass is from an instrument called 1 (directly from Logic Pro) and has an organ right on top. I took special care of the lower frequencies of both instruments so they wouldn’t grow on top of eachother. The result is pretty awesome.
The main melody is a grand piano from the instrument Keyboards Collection by Ultimate Sound Bank. It’s actually a normal piano without modifications however I did include a synth from the plugin Scorpion to achieve a unique and different sound (search for the preset Drip). This synth is similar to the Game Boy of the ES M from Logic but with a bigger body and a more improved sound.
That’s about it. The rest is just about cutting and pasting really (which is actually the hard part)! Let the music play on.
