Dutch house-meisters Mason present their latest lowlands offering…

The Mason [a] sound follows a simple method. Their understanding of melody and a canny ability to fuses it with technological know-how, sheer musicianship and dance floor savvy creates dance music for the thinking man, but not so clever to be alienating and dull. This is about rocking floors and letting the good times roll. Mason and Animal Language return with their key Summer release just in time to blow up the White Isle with another forward thinking and original release.

‘Affra’ is a jerky, angular beast of a dance floor record with Mason’s trademark analogue lead lines and jackin’ bass. The mind fuck breakdown will have them screaming more before the energy balance is again restored.

‘At The Hippo Bar’ is another chunky and cheeky number from the Dutchmen. Big brassy stabs combine with a catchier-than-pig-flu pitch shifting melody. This is all topped off with another one of those obese analogue grooves and an unpredictable arrangement. This tune has more hooks than a trawler man’s basket.

The signature ‘Refurb’ completes this package, taking Affra in a totally random direction. A slow tribal drum groove is welded with a country rock guitar in a slightly menacing vibe. This sounds like Its not dance floor but makes for great listening.
