Dubstep’s Rusko heads for the U.S.

Rusko wobbles his way across the United States this summer, giving Stateside dubstep fans a rare chance to catch one of the scene’s heavy hitters on their own turf.

Well known for his 2009 hit ‘Cockney Thug’, Rusko (aka Leeds’ Christopher Mercer) looks set to be one of dubstep’s biggest crossover successes so far. He’s collaborated with everyone from Santigold to Hot Chip to M.I.A., whose forthcoming album he helped mix and co-produce (along with the likes of Switch and Blaqstarr).

Rusko’s debut album, ‘O.M.G.!’, is just out on Diplo’s Mad Decent label, and it suggests that he has no intention of getting bogged down in so-called “bro-step”: with cameos including Gucci Mane and Ben Westbeech, the album ranges from the gorilla bounce of the title track to R&B-flavored outliers like ‘Dial My Number’, with a smattering of funky house and a heaping portion of Zapp. Read on for his tour dates, and go out and get your woo boosted.
