Dub Pistols return with new single, ‘Back to Daylight’ with remixes galore.
30 April, 2009 | 8.06AMBarry Ashworth & Jason O’ Bryan – aka the Dub Pistols - unveil the first single from their forthcoming new album ‘Rum & Coke’ with the release of ‘Back To Daylight’ on May 11th. ‘Back To Daylight’ features Ashley Slater (Freak Power) and is a class track with Ashley delivering a lovely nonchalant funky vocal over a bass-heavy electronic groove that oozes after twilight sweetness.
‘Back To Daylight’ will be released across 2 formats. Vinyl collectors and purists will get the added bonus of ‘Six Months’ which features the Cool Ruler himself, Mr Gregory Isaacs, dropping the ruff & riddim rhymes in classic Isaacs style alongside Dub Pistols regular and UK hip hop don Rodney P, whilst the digital package is stacked with remixes from Justin Robertson, Dub Pistols and friends.
Dub Pistols release their new album ‘Rum & Coke’ through Sunday Best on May 25th. The follow-up to last year’s ‘Speakers & Tweeters’, it’s the fourth and best album of their career, a brilliant hybrid of ska, hip-hop, electro, funk, lovers & soul. Featuring a host of top guests & Dub Pistols regulars, the album features appearances from Lindy Layton, Rodney P, Justin Robertson, Ashley Slater, Gregory Isaacs & T.K. Lawrence.
Always a formidable & thrilling live entity, Dub Pistols will be headlining London’s Koko on Friday May 1st and are confirmed support to The Specials at Brixton on May 6th & 7th. Dub Pistols festival appearances and a full UK tour will be announced shortly.
