I once witnessed Barry Ashworth from the Dub Pistols trying to make his way through Ibiza airport security in a wheelchair. It had been a long night, and Barry, in his inebriated state, thought it was a good idea to skip the queue by pretending to be disabled.

It was a quintessential Ibiza moment: a trashed DJ with his mates sniggering behind sunglasses and brazen faces.

Anyway, the dirty hip hop and breakbeat influenced grooves of Dub Pistols are back with a forthcoming new album ‘Rum & Coke’ (partying it seems is still high on the agenda), and here is the video for the LP’s first single ‘Back To Daylight’.

Featuring the vocals of Ashley Slater from Norman Cook’s Freak Power band, the low slinging funk of the Dubs is still prominent and groovy - it’s perfect smoky pop, for blue Mondays (or Tuesdays) (or Wednesdays).

The video features beautiful sunny shots of a guy skateboarding and walking around a city.
