On Thursday, Beatportal will be joining Adam Beyer and Joel Mull on their Drumcode Tour as the Swedish DJs hop across North America to play driving techno and chunky minimal to underground heads.

The boys will be playing at Cielo in New York, Circa in Toronto and 90 Degrees in Miami during our live blog, and we will be flying between gigs which should lead to some interesting blog posts and interview snippets.

Ahead of the tour, we asked Joel Mull to supply his top 10 tracks of the moment, which hopefully gives a clue as to the kind of music he’ll be playing during the tour.

Joel Mull’s Drumcode Top 10 chart

Topping the chart is Agaric ‘Hyperon’, a rolling groovy minimal track with those distinctive noisy snares that often populates the Drumcode sound.

It’s dark club music, infectious and fist-pumping.

At No.2 is the funky Stefan Goldmann tech houser ‘Aurora’. Because the lads will be playing at many different types of venue, it’s important that they have a deep record box that can suit many different moods.

Taking the house influence further, Argy’s remix of Kerri Chandler’s huge ‘Fortran’ sits at No.3 - I can’t wait to hear this tear a dancefloor apart, as it’s a perfect blend of hammered down house and hypnotic techy synths.

When Joel wants to bang things out a bit, he may well drop Minilogue ‘Snake Charmer’, which is one of the biggest percussion-based techno tracks of the last couple of months.

It sounds like a voodoo tribe in a heat of passionate exchange with the dark forces.

Raw stripped back techno may also feature in Joel’s sets, such as the brilliant Ben Klock ‘Steady Plus’ and the Samuel L Session remix of Joel Mull’s own ‘Red Light of Dawn’.

Overall, it’s clear that the soundtrack to the Drumcode tour will be nothing but proper techno. We can’t wait.
