When you think of Beatport, you don’t immediately associate it with drum & bass.
However, more and more producers are using it as their primary store to reach their digital customers.
With a growing level of content from around the globe and from various labels, Beatport is now reaching out to a brand new digital customer.
And with this, some of the big figure heads within the scene are using Beatport exclusively as their primary digital store.
Shimon [pictured], who collaborated with Andy C several years ago to write one of the biggest drum & bass records ever, ‘Body Rock’, set up his label Audioporn with Beatport earlier this year.
The label has since spawned several No.1 hits, including from the likes of Sparfunk and Matrix.
Another of RAM Records’ legends, Moving Fusion, set up his label Drum Culture through Beatport and now also sells through Beatport exclusively.
Bristol’s DJ Die — infamous from the early breakbeat era — and the more commercial Reprezent brought their label Clear Skyz to Beatport late in 2007.
So far, this label has had two massive hits, with collaborations with Clipz and the mighty Ben Westbeech.
There seems no end to the liquid, rolling hits that Die’s going to be producing, with the next release featuring a remix from Commix.
Nu:Tone from Hospital Records started up his label, Brand Nu Recordings earlier this year.
He brought his mighty catalogue to Beatport with releases from some of the biggest names around, including Commix and Calibre.
Next month sees a new release from New Zealand’s Shapeshifter with a belter of a remix from dBridge from Bad Company.
So now, when you think Beatport, think drum & bass.
