Your first E.P. ‘Silent Drop’ on Sino has just been released. Could you briefly introduce yourself to the public.

I’m a 27 years old DJ and producer from Girona, a beautiful city in Catalonia, in the North-East of Spain. I’ve been doing music for long time, but these last couple of years have been really exciting in my country, performing in many places and moving to music as my new way of life. ‘Silent Drop’ is my first release on Sino, a label for which I’ve been a long time admirer. I’m proud to be now part of its family. My relation with Sino is long-term so this is just the first release of lot more to come.

Your tracks denotes a wide variety of electronic music flavors. What are your music influences ?

I’ve been exposed to a wide range of of music in the past, as many music lovers out there. But when it comes to dance music, I really like Funk, Hip-Hop, House and eventually some Trance and Progressive stuffs. But what I like most is Techno, sometimes more in the Minimal style, sometimes harder and driving, but always groovy. It really depends on the vibe, the moment and the place where I am… But in the end, it’s just about the quality music, the story told and the emotions conveyed to me. My ears are always trying to catch every details that can be useful to create new ideas. It can also come from radio shows, movies… I can be walking somewhere and suddenly start singing a melody. In the studio there’s always an initial point, a background idea, like a little memory of some sounds, feelings, images… There’s also a link with the music I play when I perform as a live act. I really like to create the music I would like to dance to in a club, and this is the reason why the groove being part of a beat can become also become part of the melody of my tracks, and vice versa.

You were born and raised in Catalonia, Spain, one of the world’s most dynamic area for electronic music events, clubs and festivals. Did it influence your work in any way ?

Absolutely. The electronic music scene in Spain is really big, especially in the area where I grew up, Catalonia. It’s quite impossible for young people here to ignore the huge number of festivals and clubs located in Barcelona and cities around. I’ve always been a clubber and when I’m not on the road for gigs, I still like to enjoy music in the clubs of my city, Girona, which always had a healthy Techno scene.

Are you more a software or hardware producer in the studio ? And on stage ?

Luckily my father has been a computer lover for his whole life life so I was always surrounded by digital machines since I was child. This is why I’m doing music mainly with software. It’s most definitely my natural environment. I’m using a PC with Cubase as my main sequencer and Ableton Live as a perfect tool to remix and create quick ideas. I really like to explore the best of both worlds. I think it’s a perfect match when you can work with both softwares rewired. Cubase gives me a better mixing experience with an amazing sound engine, while Ableton Live, in my opinion, is unbeatable when it comes to warping, cutting and remixing audio, as well as preparing quick loops and parts for performing live. I also use a lot the FM8 and Minimoog plugins… I also like to work with little samples to create my own drum loops and rhythm sequences. I’ve also recently discovered the new Loopmasher plugin from Cubase, and i must admit it’s a really interesting creative tool.

On stage, I always change my system, because I get bored easily if I always use the same equipment over and over again. At present, I’m using an Allen and Heath Xone 92 mixer aside a Xone 2D from the same brand, all connected to a Mac laptop. I’m quite satisfied with this setup right now but I probably will add more things to it in the future. I like to make my live performance different every show, because this is what the word “live” means to me. Something special for the moment, something improvised, constantly starting from scratch…

What are you plans for the future (next releases, forthcoming gigs, future collaborations...) ?

On the production side, one of my past popular tune “Beach Kisses” will be re-released on Joris Voorn [a]‘s label Green [a] [l]. It will include a remix from Joris himself (who also included the track in his last Balance Mix CD) as well as a soft dubby re-edit of the song by myself. The E.P. will come out in July 2009 on both digital and vinyl. I also recently made a remix for Serbia’s Subotic [a] on Alex Bau [a]‘s label Dmom [l] (out in May 2009, digital and 12"). On a housier side, there’s also a Dosem remix of a track by Chris Woodward on the Scottish label Discoteca Music [l] which will be out in June 2009 on digital format only. My second Sino release should come out after summer and will feature the full version version of “146”, from which a snipet was released on my first Sino release.

On the performance side, I will play at several festivals this summer together with Technasia [a], my teammate in the live project Sino Live, an interesting live performance concept that joins two artists of the label Sino to fuse their own music on stage. We’ll be playing together at Monegros, Awakenings, Summer of Love, Electrosonic… I will also perform on my own as a live act or DJ at several clubs throughout the summer, including Industrial Copera, Nitsa in Barcelona, Florida 135 Fraga, Flex Club in Vienna and U60311 in Frankfurt. It’s gonna be an amazing summer for me.
