hails from the ground-breaking hip hop trio Digable Planets, whose career high was winning a Grammy for ‘Best Rap Performance’ in 1993.
Since then she’s dropped her solo artist album ‘Tripping the Light Fantastic’, and been herald by Billboard magazine as making ‘great strides in proving women in rap don’t need to scream and swagger in order to be tough and assertive’.
‘Doggstarr’, taken from her album and originally produced by Kenny Dope, has now been released with house mixes and has been burning up dancefloors from the limited tastemaker copies.
The Big remix package on this release from Om Records will suit all floors.
Fred Everything gets a smooth house groove rolling with a funky bassline and straight up house kicks that suit Ladybug’s vocal perfectly.
Jason Hedges gets jackin’ in an old skool Chicago style to add plenty of funk that will get bodies moving, while Joey Youngman adds smooth Rhodes chords and keeps it bumping.
Johnny Fiasco’s Conduction Mash-up is perfect for the headz with its tougher groove and plenty of bleeps.
