DJ Hero on its way
DJ Hero on its way
2 February, 2009 | 11.34AMFollowing last month’s rumors that DJ Tiesto
might be involved in the development of a DJing version of Guitar Hero (since then DJ Tiesto has dispelled those rumors), Activision Blizzard’s CEO Robert Kotick confirmed to CNBC that a DJ Hero game is on the way, and will come with a turntable controller much like how mock guitars are used to control Guitar Hero.
“We have a product called DJ Hero that’s coming out later this year which is a turntable that you can actually play competitively and spin discs and mix songs,” he said.
Coincidentally, Guitar Hero was a huge success for Activision, with much of its 2008 $616.3 million turnover reportedly coming from sales of the game.
A DJ Hero game then might further propel DJ culture into the mainstream, as more kids get into the scene for real after enjoying the game.
No details have been released about gameplay, or how the game will take shape, so we’d like to get Beatportal’s users input.
