Looking for ways to make your DJ sets even more dynamic? Consider the capabilities that Native Instruments have built into their Traktor Kontrol X1. The X1 now ships with an additional physical overlay for sample deck control (also available as a free update). This allows DJs to specifically assign a X1 unit to the versatile sample decks in Traktor, which provides tactile control of all relevant playback, volume, filter and loop parameters.

If you’re having trouble wrapping your head around that, check out the video above, in which DJ Haus—one half of Hot City, and head of the critically acclaimed label Unknown To The Unknown—demonstrates how the Traktor’s sample decks, used in conjunction with the Kontrol X1, can be used to jam on the fly and in sync.
