DJ Dan & Christopher Lawrence fight DJ Mag Top 100 ban
31 October, 2007 | 6.28AMBritain’s DJ Mag has cleared American DJs DJ Dan and Christopher Lawrence of cheating in their annual Top 100 DJs poll, a few weeks after kicking the DJs out for ‘voting irregularities’.
After an ‘investigation’, the dance magazine believes that it was DJ Dan and Christopher Lawrence’s unscrupulous marketing manager did the dirty work.
A clearly relieved DJ Dan said: “I am happy that DJ Mag has cleared me, personally, of any wrongdoing relating to voting irregularities in the Top 100 poll.
“I fully cooperated with DJ Mag’s investigation. I did not cheat or encourage anyone else to cheat.
“After confronting my marketing manager, who denied the allegations, I arranged for DJ Mag to interview him. Ultimately, I fired him and will not use him again.
“I appreciate the many hours that DJ Mag spent investigating the allegations. I am also grateful for the amazing response from my fans. I look forward to seeing you on the dancefloor soon.”
Christopher Lawrence too was equally pleased that he’s been found to be not guilty.
“To be clear from the outset, I did not cheat in the Top 100 poll, nor did I ask anyone to do so on my behalf.
“I have spent 15 years building my career on a reputation of honesty, integrity and hard work and had no intention of allowing my name to be tarnished when I was innocent.”
The pair however will also be bitterly disappointed to be excluded from the 2007 Top 100 DJs poll, traditionally the industry’s guide to DJ fees.
