Dissonanze Diary: From London to Rome
12 May, 2008 | 7.50AM- Section: Videos Topics: Dissonanze
I left everything to the final damn second on Thursday - getting to bed at 2:30 a.m. - preparing to visit Rome to report on the Dissonanze festival.
At 11 p.m. on Thursday night, I was still trying to charge three laptop batteries, two camera batteries, wash my clothes in the sink and God knows what else, but I made it to the airport after only an hour’s sleep.
Here is my diary of what happened:
5:00 a.m.
7:00 a.m.
I’m now sitting in Stansted airport, ready to check out the Dissonanze festival in Rome.
On the right you can see the train ticket that I used to get here - I don’t currently have the strength to move my left arm to show you my plane ticket.
7:30 a.m.
Something that really amused me is this tourist in the second picture - luckily he’s not getting on the same plane as me.
8:00 a.m.
It’s not every day you get to drink love juice.
16:30 p.m. OK, my cameraman and I are now in Rome.
I was desperately trying to sleep but couldn’t for about four hours.
With a Booka Shade interview looming and me not being able to string a sentence together, passing out was vital.
When I took the grandfather clock that is my Swiss watch off my arm, I fell into a 40-minute power nap, and awoke feeling like a new man.
My cameraman had been going mad about three hours ago, telling me that I needed to go all over Rome with him and film stuff and shit like that.
Check out the video to see what his enthusiasm ended up with!
Booka Shade should be here soonish, and I’m damn hungry, so I’m hoping we can do this interview over some Italian PIZZA! Mmmm.
9:00 p.m.
Judging by the final picture, the interview went well.
The video of our chit chat over pizza, red wine and beer will be up shortly, complete with Booka Shade smashing Dissonanze.
Ciao bella!
