Digitalism: 2 Hearts
Digitalism: 2 Hearts
21 June, 2011 | 10.09AMGermany’s Digitalism
got their start brashly combining gritty electro with punky disco. You could map their influences according to their titles: French house in one corner ("Zdarlight"), ‘80s post-punk in the other ("Digitalism in Cairo,” which riffed on a classic from The Cure). They show a softer side on their new single “2 Hearts,” which sounds like they’ve been listening to a lot of Interpol.
The rest of their new album I Love You, Dude, meanwhile, explores the roller-coaster of bromance across banging electro ("Reeperbahn"), Boysnoize-styled acid ("Antibiotics") and power balladry ("Just Gazin’"); the closing “Encore,” meanwhile, might just be the best Daft Punk
song Daft Punk never wrote.
