US house producer Dennis Ferrer’s recent Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 bridges the house and techno divide so nicely that it could perhaps be the soundtrack that explains what happened in 2008.

As the brains behind ‘Son of Raw’ and ‘Sandcastles’, Dennis Ferrer has always had a penchant for the deeper side of house music and has always done a fine job of working those soulful vocals, but this set for Radio 1 combines his house music roots with more forward-thinking techno and tech house.

Sebo K ‘Diva’, Johnny D ‘Requiem For A Dream’ and Martin Buttrich’s remix of Trolle and Siebenhaar ‘Sweet Dogs’ all feature in his two hour set.
