The Qemists featuring Wiley [Ninja...

The Qemists [a] are making up their own rules regarding production, and their highly energetic, charging rock-style drum & bass is beginning to make Pendulum [a] sound like The Carpenters in comparison.

Their previous release with Mike Patton on vocals was described as the best song Faith No More didn’t write, and with this new offering roping in the godfather of grime, Wiley [a], The Qemists have become the grittiest urban outfit to emerge from the streets of London town.

A lot of contemporary drum & bass can be a little bit too clean, compressed and flat – none of these factors are present in this VIP mix, as the track is torn apart with clinical live drumming, heavy sub bass and distorted guitars complementing a dynamic track progression that makes you want to instantly throw your arms in the air.

Ignoring the immense production for a moment, and you’ve also got Wiley spitting over the top, who without a doubt is at the top of his game at present.

As a lyricist MC and producer Wiley has developed from his earlier Eskiboy days to become one of the brightest talents to emerge within the UK’s hip hop and grime scene, and his talents are mass flaunted on this track.

As Pendulum set the mark with their style of Kerrang d&b, The Qemists have surpassed it, creating a sound which is undeniably British with lashings of credibility.
