Daydream
Vita [Kindisch]
10 October, 2007 | 1.41PM- Section: Music Reviews
It’s easy to get lost in the current sea of sound alike minimal techno records currently clogging the record stores.
Kindisch, Get Physical’s sub label and pet project of DJ T bucks that trend with greater zeal with every release.
‘Daydream’, their tenth release, is another step forward for the label’s forward thinking attitude to dance music.
While other labels have trouble sifting through the hundreds of records that materialise each month man and exploit the same clicky, over processed sounds, Kindisch is all about going that one step further.
DJ T’s mandate for the label is that each track must have an organic vibe.
That means live instruments and real sounds are in, and chucking every software plug at your track possible (the current production cliché in minimal techno), is out.
‘Mare Mare’ is the most club friendly track on ‘Daydream’ — a sultry, sexy bassline led track that skirts a female vocal over tense, layers of funk.
Vocals are all too rare in techno at the minute, but Vita (spearheaded by prolific Swedish techno producer Mikael Stavöstrand) pulls it off with sublime skill and for those too pussy to play a vocal the instrumental captures all the hazy, dreaminess of the original in an equally dubby, sexy way.
