David Vendetta reworks ‘Hold That Sucker Down’
20 March, 2008 | 12.20PM- Section: Music News Topics: House Nation
Back in 1994, the emerging talented duo of Rollo (aka Roland Armstrong) and his production partner Rob Dougan created a niche on the dancefloor with a string of club hits that would, in time, make them very wealthy men.
In his pre-Faithless days, Rollo & Rob were also know in a variety of guises including the O.T. Quartet (a spin off from their Our Tribe alias), and were the proverbial one-hit-wonders with ‘Hold That Sucker Down’.
The song now returns on the Paradise label, recrafted under the tutorage of French producer David Vendetta.
Those strike chords are still intact, and a near identikit vocal performance reeks of a bygone house era when synth lines were as big as shoulder pads had been in the preceding decade!
