Dance music: Eco Friendly?

Xlrl8r.com published an interesting article recently debating the green issue, discussing whether dance music can be eco friendly.

Richie Hawtin [a] gets props for taking his Minus family down the green route, but Matthew Herbert points out the hypocrisy of his own life.

“If you wanted to pick my life apart in ethical terms,” Herbert told Xlr8r, “you could have a field day. While making music with supposedly environmental messages, I use a massive vintage mixing board that requires several power supplies.”

As we move into the second week of 2008, it seems that the biggest issue in politics this year will be the environment, the impact of global warming and how to take things greener.

As clubbers and DJs, we’re all guilty of traveling great distances to go to festivals, Ibiza and music conferences.

What can we do as a community to help the fight against global warming?
