Dance Anthem: Narcotic Thrust ‘Safe From Harm’

One of the best progressive house records ever made is Narcotic Thrust [a] ‘Safe From Harm’, which came out in 2002.

Multi-talented producers Andy Morris and Stuart Critchton are the brains behind the track.

Featuring sing along vocals, a rolling house bassline and momentous trance stabs the song is an anthem for anyone who rode the prog house wave in the early noughties.

We found the video on YouTube.

I remember John Digweed dropped ‘Safe From Harm’ at Bedrock in Heaven in London in 2002 and the dancefloor exploded.

Bedrock at its height was London’s top club night, and for a Thursday nighter, it was ridiculously popular.

The queue used to stretch all the way back to Charing Cross tube station and the guestlist used to be mobbed with London’s industry insiders.

Producers, record label owners, DJs and press peeps used to hang out at the bar at the back of the main room, smoozing, boozing and laughing whilst dark underground prog reverberated around Heaven’s main room.

‘Safe From Harm’ was one of the few happy, lighter records of the Bedrock era, which makes it all the more poignant.
