Dance Anthem: Liquid ‘Sweet Harmony’

Liquid [a] ‘Sweet Harmony’ makes me nearly cry every time I hear it (and no it’s not because I’m a girl).

It’s because every time I hear it, I’m taken back to an old London rave club called Bagleys, which is now, sadly a pile of broken bricks as it was knocked down recently to make way for the Kings Cross rail link.

Whilst most dance anthems are about big rooms and big crowds, ‘Sweet Harmony’ reminds me of being alone in the dark cold basement of Bagleys, wondering where the hell my friends are.

I’m 15-years-old, I feel mysterious and strange after swallowing something my friend gave me, and I’m part scared, part excited about what will happen next.

The next minute my friends have disappeared and I’m in this lonely part of the club which looked like it used to be old stables.

The walls of Bagleys are cold and wet with sweat from clubbers and dampness from the ground.

Suddenly out of nowhere, this piano line comes out of the speakers and a soulful voice starts singing ‘In the sweet harmony; in the sweet harmony’.

It’s a beautiful record, full of emotion and full of meaning.

I stand alone in that basement and I don’t care where my friends are, because I’m with ‘Sweet Harmony’.

Video: Liquid ‘Sweet Harmony’

I managed to find a video for Liquid ‘Sweet Harmony’ on YouTube, but I don’t know if it’s the original video or something somebody put together.

I think it’s the real thing, because it looks like it was made in 1995!
