Dance Anthem: Hybrid ‘Finished Symphony’
Dance Anthem: Hybrid ‘Finished Symphony’
15 February, 2008 | 6.18AMOne of the most poignant and perhaps most beautiful trance records of all time is Hybrid’s ‘Finished Symphony’, which was a remix of Hybrid’s own ‘Symphony’ composed a few years prior to their debut album ‘Wide Angle’ (1999).
Its progressive breaks structure and dark haunting sounds contrast perfectly with the classical violins and orchestral arrangement and as such the track was used for a number of TV shows and computer games.
Even today, the track proves to be a modern, thoroughly engaging journey in every sense of the word ‘epic’.
Whilst trance has been lumbered with cheesy formulaic riffs, ‘Finished Symphony’ proves that at the heart of it, the genre was always meant to be emotionally charged.
Hybrid
have produced some fantastic music since, but ‘Finished Symphony’ has proven to be their masterpiece.
