Create Digital Music Winter 08 guide
12 December, 2008 | 2.45PMCreate Digital Music is one of our favorite online resources for tech minutiae, with coverage of everything from hands-on circuit bending to obscure gear gossip.
They even have an entire area devoted to Native Instruments’ Kore platform.
Longtime CDM readers know that the blog’s creator, Peter Kirn, is a huge fan of open source, DIY and plain ol’ free stuff.
So to commemorate the holiday season, he’s rounded up a crew of contributors to create the first annual Create Digital Music Winter 08 guide.
Available as either a free downloadable PDF or a full-on coffee table book, the guide is a terrific resource.
Here’s a summary of the guide’s contents:
- Circuit bending 101
- Imagining synths: reflections on the design of electronic instruments
- Tutorial on slicing audio to MIDI in Ableton Live 7
- Holiday Guide, with readers’ favorite gear and software of the year
- Creative tips for surviving winter in Berlin, courtesy monolake (Robert Henke)
- Images from the CDM community and beyond
More info and download links are available here.
[Full disclosure: The Guide’s Ableton Live audio slicing tutorial was contributed by yours truly.]
