Cr2 and Fedde Le Grande ‘Get This Feeling’ Remix Winners

Cr2’s ‘Get This Feeling’ remix contest saw 267 aspiring producers put their skills to work and submit their best remix, and we sent the top ten remixes across four different genres to Cr2 Records to pick four winners.

Of these forty remixes that were chosen by the public as well as Beatport staff, four winners have been chosen.

Drum roll, please…

Electro house winner

Name: Roy Rosenfeld
From: Jerusalem, Israel
User name: RoyRosenfelD
Myspace link: www.myspace.com/royrosenfeld
Remix style: Electro house
Remix title: ‘Get This Feeling (Roy RosenfelD Remix)’

When we talked to 21-year old Roy Rosenfeld he was very excited to have been chosen as a winner in the Cr2 remix contest, and told us he’d been checking his comments and votes every day. This young producer found his start at the age of 15 while playing around with analog equipment, and moved on to software programs a couple of years later.

He states his influences were initially the top trance dogs like Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren and ATB, but he has since experimented with several different genres and has slowed his own production tempo down to land comfortably within the electro house range.

Roy says, “I’m open to producing within several different genres these days, though I started out loving club- and psy-trance.  I think it’s very important for producers to play around and give different genres a chance.  That way they can expand their imagination and make it more interesting for listeners.”

Roy also has releases on labels Opaque Music [l], Vinyl Pusher Records [l], Dangerbox Recordings [l], and will sign more tracks on Plasmapool [l] soon, so keep an eye out for those.

Techno winner

Name: Ricardo Alfredo Rodriguez Leal
From: Concon,Chile
User name: walowalo
Myspace link: www.myspace.com/ricardoannuit
Remix style: Techno
Remix title: ‘Get This Feeling (Annuit Co. Techno)’

Along with fine production skills, Ricardo also has a finely tuned intuition.  He says, “Once I finished the song I had a strange feeling about the contest, like I knew I was going to win.” This journalism student from Viña del Mar, Chile began his production career in 2006 with a MIDI controller, and the following year went on to buy a pair of turntables.

By 2008 he had made of his own productions. He says he started to become interested in electronic music in 2004 and has a varied background that includes forays into experimental and rock, but now leans more toward fusions of Latin and electronic music, with his favorite DJs being Luciano, Villalobos, Bucci and Vivanco. We expect big things from this ascending producer.

House winner

Name: Felipe Ordoñez
User name: Phillip O
Myspace link: www.myspace.com/phillipo
From: Colombia
Remix style: House
Remix title: ‘FLG- Get This Feeling (Phillip O)’

Phillip O was very excited to be chosen as a winner in this competition (see his initial reaction when he found out in his comment below), and formally commented that it “felt like a dream come true to have a track on one of the coolest labels in the world.”

Phillip started DJing about nine years ago at the age of 15, but only started producing in 2007.  He feels his years of solely DJing helped to forge his musical ear and he speculates that it has helped quite a bit in solidifying his accomplishments in production. Currently, Philip is working on more remixes and originals, as well as a new project with friend and colleague Jul Bricks from France.  He is also busy setting up his own agency called PR Music Management, which will help promote artists from all over the world with the goal of having them perform their music in Latin American countries. Phillip also says that with heart and hard work, if you’ve got the talent people will notice and support you.

You can find a remix of Erick Decks of his out last year, and forthcoming are remixes for DJ Bear [a] on Catch 22 label, as well as a remix of Lenny Fontana [a]

Tech house winner

Name: Christian Plewka
User name: Chris Count
Myspace link: www./www.myspace.com/chriscount
From: Gelsenkirchen, Germany
Remix style: Tech house
Remix title: ‘FLG- Get This Feeling (Chris Count Remix)’

Chris Count thought he had a slim chance of winning, since there were other remixes in the tech house genre that were also good and had more spins, but his was chosen as a staff pick and obviously Cr2 also realized it was a promising choice.

Chris Count’s first impressions of dance music were collected in his early youth and he cites DJ Qbert, Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Juan Atkins and plenty more as his influences.  In the mid ‘90s he found himself moving solidly over to the house camp, with Kenny Dope leading the way. Aside from the standard DJ activities, Chris has teamed up with friend and mentor Dubster in Count and Dubster Productions, and also has his own remixes out for artists David Vendetta, Patric La Fun, Sebasten Drums, Massimo Santucci, Swen Weber, Raul Blanco, Mashup Kids and others.  He says to watch out for Countsound forthcoming in 2009.

These winning remixes will be released on Cr2 Records, and the winners also receive a $50 Beatport gift card and t-shirt.  Congratulations!
