Andy Cato will inevitably always be thought of as one-half of Groove Armada, his wildly successful partnership with Tom Findlay.

However, his solo output on his own label, Pack Up & Dance, is undoubtedly where Andy feels he gets back to his acid house roots.

The majority of the output of Pack Up & Dance features Andy’s own productions, and he clearly is enjoying the freedom of making music with an eye on the dancefloor more than the charts.

Now based in Barcelona, Andy’s solo sound seems to have picked up some of the Spanish deep teched-out influences that populate the city and the Soul Minority remix.

‘Cosmic Force’ combines underground deep house and minimal techno and has already picked up fans including Laurent Garnier, D’Julz and Mike Monday.

Built around a hypnotic cocktail of beats, the remix is a slinky deep house groove with a tripped sunshine vibe.

From the pads to the tek-synth stabs to the simple vocal all riding over subtle squelchs and skippy beats, ‘Cosmic Force’ could either be a brilliant warm-up track or a peak time jacker, depending on the DJ.

Highly recommended for fans of the soul-tek sound.
