Coachella festival announces line-up
30 March, 2007 | 3.52AMAround 68,000 music fans are set to get heatstroke when they camp out in the California desert for this year’s Coachella Music Valley festival.
The annual weekender is quite possibly the most eclectic music festival in America, and a serious contender for the hottest (temperatures average 38˚C).
This year an extra day has been added to Coachella, so it will now take place from 27th – 29th April on the Indio Polo Grounds.
One of the great things about Coachella is the countless options given to festival goers that fork out $250 US for a three day pass – it’s like a huge sandwich filled with the best bands and DJs from any genre.
Electronic music and DJs feature heavily alongside rock and indie bands.
Trance will be provided by DJ Tiesto
, Paul van Dyk
and Faithless, techno will come from Richie Hawtin
, whilst Digitalism
, Justice
, Soulwax
and MSTRKRFT
will straddle the rock/electronic divide.
Indie dance bands Klaxons, CSS, Hot Chip
, and LCD Soundsystem
will also be appearing.
A load of credible pop and rock acts will play Coachella too including Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kings of Leon, Bjork and Rage Against the Machine, if you fancy getting your rock on.
