Clunk Click Every Trip
Peverelist [Punch Drunk]
26 December, 2008 | 3.32PMWith releases such as ‘Infinity is Now’ and the forthcoming ‘Waterfalls remix’, Peverelist
has been one of the standout artists of the year, placed on the almighty 2008 pedestal by king dubstep blogger Martin Clark.
Fronting the west country dubstep massive with the Punch Drunk
label, and Bristol’s almighty Rooted Records, Peverelist
finally drops the much awaited ‘Clunk Clip Every Trip’ on his very own imprint.
The release celebrates the tenth offering on Punch Drunk, and highlights the diversity and talent that this label has thrown at us so far; from the oriental minimalism of Forsaken’s ‘Boat Noodles’ through to the grimey ‘Bk 2 The Future’ of Gemmy’s previous offering.
Peverelist does not fail to buck the trend of creativity and diversity so far with this new dubstep treat.
Sparsely layered beats with African rhythm connotations drive the track effortlessly through to a synth-laden final progression.
The combination of minimal loops, tribal beats and 80’s synths creates an underlying air of warmth and pleasure, with a futuristic atmosphere of how music could sound.
There is no massive bass within this track or massively predominate beat shuffling. It may be dubstep, but not as we know it.
