Club Yellow Closing Week: Wednesday with Danny Krivit

Club Yellow Closing Week: Wednesday with Danny Krivit

I was expecting this night to be slower, as it was a Wednesday night and Danny Krivit [a] had already been playing big events in Tokyo, such as headlining Nagisa Music Festival in April, and for Body & Soul Open Air party in May.

I was proven very wrong.

It was around 2 AM when I arrived at the club with Derrick May [a] and his promoter Ryo Watanabe, whom I happened to ran into at a cafe while I was having my late dinner.

Derrick seemed refreshed and content from playing his heart out to his favourite crowd at his most favourite club in the world the night before (which I unfortunately couldn’t attend).

He was ready to enjoy his last moments there as part of the audience.

As we walked onto the dancefloor flooded with hardcore dancers, soon the live performance began.

Rochelle Fleming of First Choice and Salsoul appeared onstage opposite the DJ booth, and as she filled the air with her magical voice the crowed responded fanatically.

“You guys party like NYC. You’re the best!”

Rochelle praised them and treated them with bona fide classics such as ‘Doctor Love,’ ‘Love Thang’ and of course, ‘Let No Man Put Asunder’ which sounded so perfectly right for the occasion.

Danny Krivit, who had been playing from the beginning of the night, took charge again after Rochelle’s brief but powerful performance, and kept the excitement going further through the night.

The warm and soulful sounds of good old disco/garage carefully selected and mixed by the expert were so undeniable and universal that every single person in the room smiled and jumped up and down in joy.

There I also found fellow New York DJ and a Yellow lover Joe Claussell.

It was a pleasant surprise to see him on the dance floor among other dancers enjoying himself.

It was a beautiful party.

Lots of big smiles, lots of hugs, and lots of cheers.

With the help of a little more alcohol than was usual, the fun time flew by.

It was already 10 o’clock on Thursday morning when I realised that the music had stopped.

I dragged myself home, feeling more happy than sad.
