Clone Records to kiss goodbye in February

Popular Dutch imprint Clone Records [l], a label dedicated to upfront electronic music, will see its last release in February after its owners revealed that they had become somewhat jaded with the current state of the scene.

A statement from the label stated: “Now we understand the tricks and formulas of dance music and [its] different users. However using these tricks and formulas just to ensure maximum effect would be a betrayal to our own musical ethics because our goal with Clone Records was to entertain ourselves with the music we release, and to be clear, with the music, and not the side effects.”

For almost 15 years Clone did a good job of delivering quality electronic music (listen to some of their output in the player below), and considering that their last release will only be their 50th is a testament to the label’s commitment to top notch music.

The Clone Classic Cuts [l] side label will still continue to operate, but the final release for Clone will be ‘Mystery of Nazerus’ from Marco Bernadi.
