Circuits / AWC Part III
Adam Beyer [Truesoul]
10 April, 2009 | 9.33AMSwedish techno DJ Adam Beyer
runs a network of highly credible techno labels, and Truesoul
is his outlet for the more soulful, deep tracks that he and his techno buddies produce.
Truesoul rarely speaks - the label clocks up about one record a quarter - but when it does, it’s always pure quality, as displayed on Beyer’s new ‘Circuits / AWC Part III’.
‘Circuits’ has that classic Beyer sound, with unbelievably compact basslines that rise and fall gripping your stomach, but they’re offset by his precise percussion dribbles and perfect drum hits that always manage to jump out of the speakers. The soulful elements in the track come via a synth that sounds like a computer hard at work, hence the title.
B-side ‘AWC Part III’ has a more driving low end and its snare-kick-drum combo reminds of Beyer’s genre defining percussive techno cut ‘A Walking Contradiction’. The soul in this case, comes via a smooth pattern of melancholic pads and synths that juxtapose the energy of the record quite nicely.
