Chris Cowie Re-launches Hook Recordings and Bellboy Records
22 July, 2008 | 9.53AM- Section: Music News
After a four-year hiatus Hook Recordings and Bellboy Records are set to re-launch summer 2008.
Label founder Chris Cowie has digitally remastered the entire back catalog and is making them available for the first time ever for purchase by digital download.
Both Hook and Bellboy will be releasing new tracks along with the classic catalog.
As part of the re-launch effort Chris Cowie has asked Bruno Browning, Las Vegas-based producer and co-founder of Soulsupplement Records, to be a partner in both labels harnessing his expertise in operations.
For ten years the music of Hook Recordings and Bellboy Records inspired and influenced a generation of DJs and clubbers as well as helped shape the global dance scene.
The label’s paid little attention to market trends, often crashing through musical barriers and resulting in a unique and original sound which saw them gain legions of fans from all musical tastes, as well as be championed by a diversity of DJs ranging from the eclectic John Peel and Laurent Garnier to the mass appeal trend setters like Sasha, Carl Cox, Paul Van Dyk and Danny Tenaglia.
If you tried to find a name DJ today who didn’t spin Hook or Bellboy releases you could be searching for a long time, such was the label’s wide appeal.
For those previously unaware of the label’s influential sound, they can now enjoy its releases at a fraction of their original cost, digitally remastered which is also great news for the more mature fans.
Both labels will have a 10-track EP available 12th August 2008 exclusively at Beatport.
