Chocolate Puma: House Masters

Chocolate Puma: House Masters

Dutch house is all the rage these days, and much of the credit for that is surely due to Chocolate Puma. For 20 years now, they’ve been repping their country with cheeky, fun-loving and eminently funky grooves, and their contribution hasn’t ended with their productions or their DJ sets. They mentored Laidback Luke when he was still a young whippersnapper, and these days their influence extends to Bart B More, who they “kind of manage,” as well as rising artists like Firebeats, signed to their own Pssst label.

In recognition of their achievements, Defected In The House invited Chocolate Puma to mix the latest installment of the House Masters series, an honor peviously bestowed upon the likes of Louie Vega, DJ Gregory, Blaze, and Osunlade.

The mix is heavy on their own productions, whether as Chocolate Puma, Jark Prongo, Klatsch! or Rene Et Gaston; the likes of Fierce Ruling Diva, Mike Dunn, Bingo Players and Boris Dlugosch also turn up, but, in keeping with their habit of editing any record that crosses their decks, they’ve all been given the Puma touch. They’ve even given a new rework to their 1992 hit “Give It Up,” released under The Good Men alias, which is currently climbing the Beatport Top 100.
