Catch Up / Trigga Happy
Catch Up / Trigga Happy

20 February, 2008 | 7.45AMGood old Total Science
come hard with a highly original tune by their standards in the form of ‘Catch Up’.
This contains dubby vibes – but not in a cheesy way like many other drum & bass clones in recent memory – and the bassline is a druggy affair that is complemented by an off-kilter, distorted synth, crazy congas and brilliantly-worked FX.
The break is the one from Adam F ‘Circles’ – we can’t remember the name at the moment because our brains have been melted by listening to too much clownstep – and their edits hark back to the golden age of jungle yesteryear.
Thank you, Total Science, for bringing the vibes back in only the way that you can!
Moving onto ‘Trigga Happy’ – get ready for the toughest amen track of the year.
Distorted to levels that will, underneath louder sound systems, crush your skull.
Containing a melody that harks back to The Who’s classic ‘Baba o’ Riley’ from the ‘Who’s Next’ LP and a naughty sample of Dillinja’s ‘Grimey’ Reece, this redefines devastation in the drum & bass genre.
