Dessous knock out some re-interpretations of ‘Casualities’ here, a cut from the recent Phonique long player ‘Good Idea’ which was released earlier this year.

Phonique, or Michael Vater for long, puts a more club spin on his track and Morgan Geist from Metro Area is drafted in the provide the additional remix.

We weren’t massive fans of the original - Erlend Øye’s melancholic vocals coupled with a plodding, Euro pop feel didn’t move us in the way that other numbers on the solid album did.

The ‘Club Mix’ however ticks all the right usual boxes.

The drums have been toughened up and have given things a more up-beat feel.

The bass line is a more prominent feature than previously, this time appearing in a frequency consuming saw-tooth guise.

The plodding nature of the original is retained, although the synth lines have a bit more bite and fizz to them.

The Morgan Geist effort is a touch more restrained and better off for it.

A similar pace is kept but it re-introduces some of the favourable string elements of the Original.

The vocals get sliced, diced and sprinkled over a less playful backing, and the subtle use of a vocoder adds some further interest the improved proceedings.
