Carbibe Elektrico EP
Joeski [Dutchie Music]
14 February, 2008 | 9.55AMLatin tinged soundscapes have a habit of providing the soundtrack for the well coiffurred glitterati in beautiful surroundings.
New York stalwart Joeski
manages to stray away from that image on his latest foray on Dutchie Music
, ‘Carbibe Elektrico’.
On the Original Mix, he demonstrates a master class in layering sounds and textures by introducing an endless array of instruments and fx.
The resulting melange of phonics can only lead to one thing: serious shape throwing.
An abundance of energy is injected through the chugging Afro percussion, paving the way for an undulated riff and moody pads which herald the centrepiece of ‘Carbibe Elektrico’, a chirpy kalimba determined to burrow its under your skin and stay there until you press stop — which you won’t do in a hurry.
The ever impressive Stan Kolev pushes the buttons on what will probably be the most popular of the mixes on offer.
The Outer Limits Mix deserts the Latin flavours and instead sets up camp in the futuristic grooves of deep house.
With its heavy analogue bass and jabbing synths, this is perfect for those strobe light moments.
The Green Chile Rerub remains faithful to the original tweaking of things slightly to create a hypnotic set builder.
