Camp Bisco Eight
Camp Bisco Eight
26 April, 2009 | 3.08AMIn one’s final semester at college/uni while attending a school that is located in the New York State countryside (Oneonta,NY), very few things catch your eye anymore. Scantily clad sorority girls, passed out frat boys, drug usage in the bathroom stalls and voyeurism all become ancient sights. Going into the local pizzeria and seeing an event flyer for a festival with the headlining acts being The Orb
, Chromeo
and Martyn
is definitely not one of those sights. While continuing to read the rest of the apparent Camp Bisco Eight flyer, one also notices the name Flying Lotus
, AC Slater
, Special Disco Version (James Murphy & Pat Mahoney of LCD Soundsystem) and even a DFA Disco and Twisted Records All Star Tent! Where am I and what is this you ask?!
Camp Bisco is an outdoor music festival held at the beautiful Indian Lookout Country Club, a world-class property located near Albany, NY. Camp Bisco is a 3 day rain-or-shine event with camping. Attendees arrive beginning at 8am on Thursday morning July 16th. Camp Bisco 8 features 3 days and nights of music on 3 stages, including a late afternoon DJ TENT and a late night DANCE TENT featuring top international Dance acts. The festival is located in the sticks in Mariaville, NY about 30 minutes from the state capital of Albany, about 3 hours from New York City and about 1 hour from the legendary Woodstock grounds.
It’s the brainchild of the Disco Biscuits. The Disco Biscuit are a trance, fusion jam-band from Philadelphia. They differ from most jam bands by fusing electronic elements into their music. Although we may stick them in the nu-disco or indie category, their legions of loyal fans prefer to call it “trance-fusion” or “livetronica.”
Trance my friends, is a very objective term that comes in all forms.
