Busy P, Justice, Cassius and DJ Mehdi are Club 75

Liberté, égalité, fraternité: call it the motto of the DJ supergroup known as Club 75. Its members—Justice‘s Xavier de Rosnay, Busy P, DJ Mehdi, and Cassius‘ Zdar and Boombass—came together in 2004 for a no-holds-barred throwdown they described as simply “a bunch of friends, no musical limits, backstage-on-stage”.

They revived the concept (if a bunch of bros getting wasted on the decks can really be called a “concept") last fall at Paris’ Social Club, and this year—perhaps having found the Social Club’s DJ booth too crowded for five lanky dudes—they took the spectacle to the considerably roomier Coachella festival.

The group’s top 10 chart for Beatport lays out their musical mandate across a selection of electro-leaning house, fidgety techno, and Busy P’s latest love, dubstep. Some of the selections might surprise you, though, like the 120-BPM downbeat house of LoSoul’s ‘Dogma’, or the ravey disco of Munk’s ‘La Musica (Azari & III Remix)’, suggesting that the over-the-top crew may even have a soft side.

Of course, none of this answers the crucial question: How many Ed Bangers does it take to change a record?
