Bumbumboxing with Cómeme
Bumbumboxing with Cómeme
9 November, 2010 | 3.18AMFeel like the nightlife has left you wanting more? You could always do like Matias Aguayo
and the Cómeme crew. Frustrated with the clubbing options in Buenos Aires, they started throwing impromptu dance parties on street corners with nothing more than a boombox and a mixture of experimental beats and booty-moving cumbia. They called their party, appropriately enough, Bumbumbox, after the Latin American slang for posterior parts.
While their parties have the derrière-garde covered, their label Cómeme—which translates as “eat me"—is plenty avant-garde, without ever sacrificing the crucial element of fun: just check out the bonkers “Pitaya Frenesi” or the Ritmo Especial EP to find out why their material is lighting up dancefloors in all kinds of scenes, from nu disco to electro-cumbia to leftfield house.
Click on through to check out the crew’s classic “Pitaya Frenesí” video and preview all the label’s releases.
