Buenos Aires EP
Pole Folder [Hope Recordings]
7 August, 2007 | 1.38PMSince his debut back in 2000 with ‘Apollo Vibes’, Belgian producer Benoit Franquet has gone on to become one of the most respected producers within the progressive music scene, and also holds the distinction of being the only artist to have an artist long player released on John Digweed’s infamous Bedrock imprint.
Here in 2007, Franquet has formed a new partnership with Bristol label Hope Recordings, making his debut with the ‘Buenos Aires EP’, inspired by travels to the clubs of South America.
‘Pacha 6am’ takes the lead.
Whilst its deep, melodic roots aren’t too far removed from the previous body of work Pole Folder has brought to the masses over the years, the production quality and musicality is much more pronounced, perhaps influenced by the live direction taken in his sets and his upcoming second album.
Its warm beats and heady, hypnotic groove is underpinned by some truly mesmerizing key arrangements.
‘Bokoto 10PM’ sees Pole Folder
team up once more with his producer partner and friend DJ CP, and as the title alludes to, it’s more upbeat than it’s counterpart, with a cool bass loop keeping the tempo tight and constant, capped off by a smooth, atmospheric and provoking drop.
