Bryan Ferry announces remix contest winner

While he’s been hard at work getting ready for upcoming Roxy Music live dates, Bryan Ferry has spent his rehearsal downtime poring over the entries to Beatport’s “Shameless” remix competition. And now we have a winner!

Ferry’s label Beat Noire tells us, “Bryan Ferry would like to thank everyone for all the hard work they put into remixing ‘Shameless.’ There were so many good versions submitted, and it was extremely interesting to hear so many different approaches to the track. Bryan has chosen Frank De Wulf as the outright winner from the remixes that were submitted through Beatport.”

If that name sounds familiar to you, it’s with good reason: Frank De Wulf is a somewhat legendary producer from the Belgian nu-beat and techno scenes, with records for labels like Music Man, B-Sides, Harthouse and R&S Records going back all the way to the late ‘80s.

In recognition of his achievement, De Wulf takes home a sumptuous prize pack including a signed copy of the “Deluxe Book Edition” of Bryan Ferry’s new album; a signed, C-type crystal archive print of Kate Moss (Ferry’s new cover girl); and a framed print of the 1975 album Siren - all with a total estimated value of 1300 Pounds Sterling, or nearly $2100. Add on to that VModa headphones, a Native Instruments Maschine, a $200 Beatport credit - and, of course, release of his winning remix on Beat Noire itself.

De Wulf’s remix also happened to be the top-spun entry, so we’ve decided to award the runner-up prize to Maribelle & Versace, whose entry was the second most spun. They take home a $50 Beatport credit.

But that’s not all. Beat Noire continues: “In addition to this, a track called ‘Shameless (Strutt Remix)’ was emailed to our office in London after the Beatport submission period was over. Bryan liked this mix so much that he would like to honour its creator with the opportunity to release it on Beatport with the other winning remix.”
